Traveling (Mission):

Interestingly, the fool had been assigned a much higher-ranking mission than usual, though not a very dangerous one. Clad in his usual red attire, the fool casually strolled towards the village gates, mission slip in hand. Thus far in his youthful ninja career the fool had only performed a couple of very simple D-rank missions; an A-rank assignment was unexpected indeed. They seldom gave tasks of this rank to genin anyways, let alone to an inexperienced one. Though, the fool was neither pleased nor dismayed with this assignment, for it didn't seem to be very exciting, nor did it seem to pose any threat whatsoever. At heart, the fool questioned why the mission, which appeared one of relative ease, was ranked so highly. Yet, it mattered not, and the fool could collect quite a hefty reward upon the mission's completion, and thus he had already begun its execution.

Apparently, a shortage of manpower, resources, and adequate leadership in Takigakure necessitated the assignment of high-ranking missions to genin. Entering the mission office, the fool had noted the decreased number of personnel. The selection of missions had also narrowed, and only a few slips were available for picking under each level. Naturally, the genin had gone immediately for the D-rank section, but one of the men at the desk spoke up, inquiring as to whether or not the fool was willing to take on a greater assignment, as the village could use the money. Well, the fool could always use money too, and thus he complied, setting his eyes on the A-rank missions. The jōnin at the desk pointed out a simple assignment, which the fool took; this mission slip he currently held.

Scanning over the contents of the small piece of paper as he walked, the fool re-familiarized himself with the specifics of his assignment. He was simply to travel to any village and interact with its inhabitants; it looked like it would be a cakewalk. The fool, living in a village of beauty connected to the mainland, had seen many people from many different nations, such as the neighboring Land of Fire and Land of Earth. On a few occasions, he had even encountered inhabitants of the Lands of Lightning and Wind. While he had conversed with some of these people, the fool had never had the pleasure of meeting one from Kirigakure, for the boat ride from the island nation must be brutal, and why would one endure such a trip to travel to a simplistic, unimportant place such as Takigakure? In addition, the Fool had only taken to the sea a few times, and it had been awhile since he was on a boat, and thus he resolved to take a nice, leisurely trip to Kirigakure.

Deciding to enjoy the scenery before wallowing into the vicious tides, the fool resolved to go through the Lands of Sound and Hot Water, after which he would find himself at the shore, and board a ship. Grinning as crookedly as ever, the fool skipped out through the gates of his village, the nurturing spring sun shining warmly upon him from its halfway point, and all the little flying things of the forest humming and chirping their various melodies. Oh, the day was beautiful indeed, and the fool had no way of envisioning the carnage, rape, and pillaging currently transpiring in his destination. Yet, soon enough he would happen upon the wicked event, and woe be the perpetrators of the attack, for the villain of fortune had them in its sights.
