Cool! My First Mission!

His heart pumped. As he emerged from the office of the Raikage, his eyes spread wide. It was his first mission, he was alone, and the Raikage was one emotional son of a gun. Angry as all possible at some type of creepo candy man or something handing out poisoned candy to little kids. Really, what kind of idiot does something like that when the force of law in their village is a group of elite Shinobi who could raze the place to the ground with little to no opposition? Idiot... but, it didn’t matter. Moku sprinted out of the Raikage’s office, and out of the spire, heading nowhere in particular. Rather, he simply ran around thinking of a way to pin point this creepy guy.

His mind offered him many ideas simultaneously, one telling him to dress like any other civilian kid - he was 11 after all - and see if he could lure this guy out. But nah, that would take too long. Another idea told him to find the poor kids with upset stomachs and talk to them to find out who and where they had bought the candy that caused their illness. Yeah, that sounded like a good idea. As he hurtled through the village, the boy wondered what kind of humane person could possibly poison chocolate. Brocoli? Coli Flower? Sure! But chocolate? Oh, the amount of hatred that would push someone to poison the most delicious thing in the world made him want to break down and cry for mommy.

I'm Gonna Find This Monster!

Recovering himself and arriving at the clinic, Moku approached the front desk. He asked spoke to the nice old lady, “Excuse me, I need to know if there is anyone here right now complaining from an upset stomach and has eaten a new type of chocolate in the past 24 hours.”

The nice old lady, Julia by the name on her tag, looked at him somewhat humorously, “Oh, I’m sorry little buddy, we don’t hand out information about patients to little kids who just pop in.”

Moku rolled his eyes, somewhat annoyed now, but marvelously thankful for an excuse to show her his identification as a Kumogakure Shinobi. She raised her eyebrows, “Sorry for asking, but what does my patients’ symptoms have to do with your mission?”

“I can’t tell you, it’s top secret!” Moku now took back his I.D. “Can I see the patients now?”

Utterly baffled, the now-mean-because-she-called-him-a-little-kid, old lady beckoned for him to follow her to one of the exam rooms and left him alone with a girl named Lucy. She was the same age as Moku and had entered the Shinobi academy a few years before him, though she had not yet managed to graduate. Moku asked her his question, prominently displaying the ninja headband tied at his waste, “Oh hey Lucy what’s up! I’m on my first mission! Hey, can you tell me from who and from where you bought that new kind of chocolate you tried?”

The girl, kind of pretty, Moku noticed, smiled broadly and answered his question quite happily. “Oh what’s up Moku! It’s so cool that you’re on a mission! I’m telling you, soon enough, I’ll be doing them with you! Oh, right, yeah, the man was uhmmm... ummmm... like, kind of tall, middle aged, and had a really really curly mustache and long black hair. He was in the square.”

Moku was sprinting out the door now, he just barely glanced back and gave Lucy his get well wishes. He ran out the door and through town, waving at some people he knew, and rolled his eyes at the adults who laughed as he ran by, probably thinking he was playing some childish game like tag. He was a grown up now, a man. He was a proud Genin of Kumogakura, why did people still treat him like a child? Moku shook himself as he quickly closed in upon his destination. He saw a man in the square who fit Lucy’s description, but he had to catch him in the act. He hid atop a flower shop and hawk-eyed the man, watching his every move.

WOOT!!

DIE DIE DIE D-- Oh wait. Yeah, Moku wasn’t supposed to kill him. That’s right... hm! He thought someone who had a blackened enough heart to poison chocolate SURELY deserved to die. Moku sat atop his little secluded rooftop, eying the man like a hawk does its prey. He saw him beckon a boy a bit younger than Moku over and he watched as the boy perked up and pulled out a wrinkled bill that had probably been hurriedly stuffed in his pocket. Moku’s eyes narrowed. He leaned forward and the man pulled out a wrapped package from a pouch, and with better attention Moku noted that the package looked suspiciously like chocolate. If this was his man, the chocolate would be poisoned. No way could he let that poor boy get hurt!

Bearing that thought in mind, Moku vaulted the little concrete wall of the top of the building, landing hard from the second story - making a mental note never to ever ever do that again - and he hurtled his way at the pair in his sights. Moku yelled at the choco-man as he ran toward him. “STOP! In the name of Kumoga-” and the man was on the move. Hot on his trail, Moku passed the young boy and told him quickly not to eat the chocolate, not looking back to see whether the boy heeded his warning. Quickly, because this man was just a civilian, Moku caught up and tackled him to the ground. He confiscated the man’s money bag and pouch full of chocolate as he tied wire around his wrists to form makeshift hand-cuffs. He didn’t have any real ones because the last time he went to the store, the only ones he could find were purple and furry... Moku hoisted him up and told him swiftly that he was under arrest, only receiving a loud grunting protest.

Mission Complete!!

Moku finished his knot with the wire that he’d wrapped around the wrists of his target and pushed him forward, instructing him to walk. They were heading in the direction of the Raikage’s office with the young Shinobi intent on successfully completing his mission. He felt a strange sort of satisfaction now that HE was the one enforcing rules on ADULTS. He felt both proud and a little confused. The Uchiha boy grinned as they hurried toward the spire, and he stopped when he passed the clinic. He told his charge to follow him inside and he gave still-mean old lady a sample of the chocolate bars, informing her that it was the substance which was causing all of the upset stomachs and that an antidote could be easier selected for it now.

The pair hurried now out of the office and Moku picked the man up as he leaped across rooftops in an attempt to hurry to the office. He was proud of successfully completing his first mission without any hindrances, and not only that, but having done it alone. It was a huge milestone in his life and he couldn’t manage to keep the grin off of his face as he hurtled toward the office. Once there, he escorted the prisoner to the Raikage’s office and walked in behind him. He quickly gave his report, detailing what had happened and that this was the culprit, and he left the room after receiving both his regular pay and his pay for bringing the man back to the Raikage.
