Yuuka was finishing one mission after another. Now she was on the rooftops of the village with many other Genin and chuunin. She herself was alone, leaving some distance between her and other Shinobi. She walked the perimeter near the edge, her eyes looking pleasantly at the green growth. The village was well hidden and any intruder who had no idea of its details would find himself lost within the giant forest. There were times that they would have found dead Shinobi from neighbouring countries. No matter how experienced you were, sometimes the trees had this feeling about them. Like they uprooted themselves and moved. Many got lost but for Konoha Shinobi it was home.

As she walked she was confronted by a Chuunin and his friend. The one hiding a flushed face and the other keeping a straight one. "I don't recognize you. who are you? You don't show up on the roster." Yuuka paused, smiling at the pair of them. She wanted to laugh at the one whose face was flushed. He was looking away into the forest, taking quick glances at her whenever he could. "Yuuka Kaede, I was added to the Genin list Today" She produced the Konoha headgear that she did not wear. The two saw the brand new shining forehead protector. "hmmm.."

"She's a Genin of the Village, let her patrol" A Jounin captain vouched for her. They knew who she was all to well. She recognized him as one of the Jounin that had taught her how to see at night. The Jounin would never tell anyone of them who she was. Thanking the two Chuunin Yuuka continued her patrol. Walking away from the gate all the while looking into the forest for any suspicious movement.

The sun had begun its descent but it was still bright. It would be a few hours before evening would come. In this time of day no one would try and invade the village. Yet the patrols were always vigilant. Every hour or so a group of skilled Shinobi would move out to patrol the Forests. When another hour was up they would return and another group would go out. Konoha wasn't simply a Great nation for the fun of it. They made sure they were one of the super powers with the blood and sweat. Yuuka was somewhat proud to be part of it.

As she walked the abnormally high walls of the village she walked past other Genin and Chuunin. Her figure and rare beauty attracting a few eyes. She would look at them in the eye and stretch her lips to an amused smile. They were nice people, the people of Konoha. Yuuka's caught onto something interesting. There was a place on the wall, wider than other spots. It was a turret for officers to stand. At that place there was a birdcage and inside was a handful of pigeons and hawks. The predatory animals were of course separated from the soft chested birds.

Approaching the area she saw some Chuunin were tying messages to the legs of the bird. The messages were tiny and in codes. She had learnt that the walls used the smaller birds to communicate with other posts in the village. She also learnt that the bigger birds were reserved for more important messages and long distance messages. However no one truly knew as the system constantly changed. It was interesting.

Walking closer to the birdcages, the Chuunin there greeted her. He returned to tying the encrypted messages to many more birds. However he came across a problem. He appeared to be one pigeon short. Why? Yuuka had no idea. He looked at Yuuka with a big apologetic smile. "Could you please send this message on foot to the next sentry house?" Yuuka nodded taking the tiny white scroll from him. She placed the message inside her Kimono so that it would not get lost. "Thank you, make sure not to read it. Not that it would make any sense haha"

Yuuka smiled, watching as he released the many pigeons. They were well trained flying rather naturally in the general direction of where they needed to go. Yuuka had heard about teams of Shinobi being discovered by carrier pigeons. The pigeons were unnatural in their flight. Flying in one direction to deliver the message. The pigeons in Konoha flied naturally, taking flight with other pigeons and sometimes throwing in zigzags but they would arrive at their destination before all was too late.

It was time Yuuka moved on. She began to walk again all the while passing more Genin and Chuunin. Occasionally she passed Jounin but they all ignored her, pretending not to know who she was but they all knew. She felt the watchful eyes of her protectors. The village Jounin knew who she was in the case they came after her. They would protect her at all costs. Yuuka wanted to be strong to be able to protect herself. "dude, I don't remember a girl like that in the academy" Yuuka smiled to herself as she made her way to deliver the coded message.

It was not long till she was at the next sentry point. It seemed like an exact replica. Multiple Shinobi stationed inside. Many looking outwards as their ever vigilant eyes saw to the protection of the village. It was a source of great re-assurance. This meant that to sneak into Konoha would be very difficult. Like the first there was a Chuunin handling the birds in cages, reading coded messages and sending coded messages back. Yuuka's approach was met with curiosity, she was once again asked about who she was and had to vouch for herself with the forehead gear.

After it was confirmed Yuuka handed over the coded message. The Chuunin nodded, taking a moment to read what the message was. It must have been routine or expected he simply nodded and threw the message away into a small fire pit, burning all traces of it away. He then returned to his business. That was easier than expected. Yuuka stood there, she wasn't entirely sure if she had to return a message but seeing as no one paid her any attention she assumed her mission was complete. She began once again to patrol the outer edges of the wall.

She had expected something even remotely odd to happen but it seemed that patrolling the rooftops was redundant and most days dull and safe. However the looks on the faces of the Jounin made her realize. We have to watch and respond to everything. No matter how many times the boy cries wolf, if the wolf comes 1 in a 1000 times, Konoha will shed blood. Yuuka thought to herself, how cruel the world she lived in could be. It wouldn't be long till the next batch of genin came to patrol and she would be relieved of her duty.

Yuuka had not even reach the quarter way around the wall. The wall was indeed huge, the wooden length of the hardy pride of Konoha was simply too big for one go. It had been at that time she saw movements in the forest. For a moment she stopped, thinking it was an enemy but closer inspection revealed they were friendly shinobi. They seemed to be in a hurry. Running towards the gates as the large walls were nearly impossible to scale. She wondered why they were in such a hurry. She stood there briefly thinking about what had happened.

It was then her named was called. Well, referred to as Miss Kimono. She turned to see a Chuunin running towards her with a message. The message was larger than the standard ones they had been using. In fact it was your every day normal one. The message would however be still encoded with both a jutsu and by font. "Please can you take this to the administration district and deliver it the the office of the Hokage. Give it to her secretary if you must" Yuuka nodded and made her way out of the gates. Her patrol mission was done.
