In her own way [OPEN/FLASHBACK]

It was simple and rather impersonal but definitely Kaya's style. She had distributed a large number of leaflets for her fellow Sunagakure shinobi, the Genin to be more specific.

Kaya was in the grounds and waiting, her body shrouded by a cloak and a tanuki mask covering her face. She stood there silently waiting for those to arrive.

Her hand would wrap around the flier as she smiled softly, As she gulped the rest of her cola she would wipe away the remains of the liquid with her right hand before nodding to herself. She was going to take up the challenge. A single scroll concealed a large majority of her weapons while 5 kunai and 5 shuriken were kept upon her body. The kunai in the holster upon her left leg while the shuriken upon her right side of her hip held within a pouch. 3 Fuma shuriken lay folded strapped in the un-used position upon her back allowing her to be able to quickly reach behind her and throw. Two blades identicle to each other kunai like in shape were strapped to either side of her hips. The single scroll on her right sitting in the holster.

Standing up and paying her tab Amelli would take a deep breath. She had never willingly went to get the crap pummeled out of her by a jounin before but she had no teacher and this may be a rare time that she was capable of learning something useful. reading the flier before putting it back Amelli would bow to the shop owner whom had served her beverage before turning and making her way to the designated area. Blond hair would trail behind her shining even in the dim lights of the fading sky light. thoughts of idiocy and stupidity filled her head, Maybe she should ask about....maybe she should wait maybe..... to late.

She had arrived, 17 year old Amelli Nara, Genin of Sunagakure was now standing in the area that the flier had mentioned. Thankfully she was early it was only 9:50....ten minutes. her blue soul filled eyes located Kaya only knowing her name due to the statement of the flier. Another gulp.."My...my name is ...Amelli...i...im here to take the challenge" she said taking what she would tell herself was her final gulp

Kaito approached the 12th Training Grounds. Wearing the uniform befitting a sand ninja his face was mostly concealed by the cloth wrappings around his head and neck, a Sunagakure headband being the most remarkable feature of his forehead. Double checking the pouches around his leg he noted down his kunais and other tools that he had purchased, he would be ready indeed. He had seen one of the leaflets fluttering in the wind as he strolled through the market complex. Taped to a wall the leaflet seemed to call out to him; it looked a little bit shady when he first saw it, as if were a trap to capture genins for nefarious intentions. A chance to learn something from a strong opponent though? He would be stupid not to show up, any experience would surely be of benefit to him. Kaito was confident in his own abilities, he could hold his own in battle and his medical jutsus would be able to deal with any notorious injuries.

Walking onto the ground Kaito noted the two people standing in front of him, a blonde girl that he did not recognise and a cloaked figure covering their face with a mask. He assumed that the masked individual was the one that sent out the fliers, he glanced over to the blonde girl once again, although looks could be deceiving. Kaito wondered if any other genins were going to show up, he was doubtful of their chances of even hurting a jounin with this many. Pulling down the cloth around his neck, Kaito reached into his back pocket and pulled out one of the fliers that had been littered around the village. "Who am I meant to be fighting here?" Looking to and from the two ninjas in front of him, Kaito waited for an answer.

The clock ticked down, Kaya counting the seconds down to the moment that the fated time would begin. Two people had taken her challenge, perhaps more would arrive later. A few minutes still remained. Ten seconds, nine, eight... She remained as still and as silent as ever. Three seconds. Two. One.

Zero.

Her gloved hands deftly moved with extraordinary swiftness and dexterity rapidly forming the Ram, Snake and Tiger signs. Eight clones of her figure appeared forming a semi circle around her and immediately following that another clone appeared by her side as her fingers crossed producing a shadow clone in the mix hidden by the wall of clones around them. With that done Kaya melded into the ground beneath her as the clones ran forwards in unison towards Amelli. The clouded sky played to her advantage, the non existent shadows of her clones as indistinguishable like that of the shadow clone that accompanied them. The lead was taken by five of the clones a row of two and then three, the single figure behind being Kaya's being of substance and the two at the rear like those at the front.

In the meanwhile Kaya relaxed underground, feeling the presence of the Genin through her sharp sensory abilities feeling their chakra as well as the magnetic resonance that her Earth Release technique granted her. She would wait for them to make a move above the ground before she made her next move.

[48 hours have passed]

Kaito observed the two ninjas in front of him. Ameli stood 5 metres away from him to the north-east in correlation to his position while Kaya stood 5 metres away also but to the north-west; forming an equilateral triangle between the trio. Sadly, he was only met with silence in response to his question. Kaito shuffled awkwardly as he waited for an answer, until the shrouded ninja began to craft hand seals at a quick speed. Not even being able to keep up with her hand seals eight clones formed around her with another clone beside her. Kaito’s sensory skills flared up as the chakra source from the cloaked ninja fractioned into another source, the clone beside her. The other clones seemed to be that of an illusion, a simple jutsu taught to academy students but if utilised correctly could provide devastating results.

As the clones formed Kaito looked to the other genin to see her reaction but there was nothing, she hadn’t even taken a defensive stance. Knowing that he would have to do something, Kaito rushed towards her with his slightly enhanced Taijutsu sub-spec speed as the clones took their formation and a second later rushed towards her. As he ran he noticed that 9 clones had been created while only 8 of them had rushed them in formation, the presence of this extra clone was mentally noted.  Racing to Ameli, Kaito got there before the clones. Turning to face them, he could feel the sole chakra presence in the group of clones while another seemingly observed from the ground. Keeping the chakra source underneath the ground at the back of his mind, Kaito looked up at the advancing clones and just before the first clone reached him bolted forward in a low position through the illusions until he reached the shadow clone. Once he reached the clone, he used the momentum from his low position to propel himself upward in a backflip motion, his right foot elevating into the air first before his left foot followed suit and would strike the shadow clones underneath the chin and expel it into the air. Regardless of the outcome, Kaito would find himself in the air also. Keeping his eyes on the ground, Kaito noted the position of the two chakra sources as well as Ameli’s chakra source on the battlefield.

The attack would connect with the clone which would shoot into the sky and erupt into a cloud of smoke, as is typical of a shadow clone. Kaito would land on the ground, behind Ameli who had remained motionless during the attack from the shrouded jounin. The genin would remain aware of his surroundings, anticipating a counterattack from the jounin, but it never came. The clone's chakra source was no longer on Kaito's radar but the source underground remained. Time passed but no retaliation occurred from shinobi underground, Kaito was getting bored. He was promised a strong opponent and something to learn but it seems that it was just a waste of time all along, the genin cursed under his breath and made a mental note not to trust shady leaflets that he finds on the ground. Without saying a word to the other genin who seemed to be in a state of shock, Kaito left the training ground in hopes of finding more amusing events that would perk his curiosity.
